Idioms about colour

When reading, we can meet some idioms or expressions with different colours. Personally, I accumulated some, such as white lies, black sheep, green hand, red tape, black and blue etc. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I never think of any good method to remember or understand them effectively. I coincidently browsed a web, where these color idioms were taught in a story. That is to say, in a context. So cool. To tell the truth, I like this. Share it with all of you:
A Silver Lining ( And there is an audio file, ^-^ )
P.S: A little long. Patient, please. I benefit much from it. I think you also can.

English study plan

In an instant, days are gone without any hesitation. The last quarter of a year. A complete blank. I am good at making plans but they will finally be a complete blank too. ...... Now I wanna grasp the tail of this year. Make an English-study plan now:
1) Listening: At least 20 min per day
2) Reading: news, blogs, or other materials (^-^ I can insist on this one )
3) Translating: 2 short passages per week
4) Writing: blogging often
Action!

No jaywalking

Learned a word today. It is
Jaywalking is a term used to describe when a pedestrian crosses the street outside designated crossing areas. In common North American use, the term generally refers to someone crossing a major street outside a designated crosswalk or intersection in jurisdictions where this is illegal.
In big cities, like Guangzhou, there are more and more cars on the street. Most of people will obey the traffic rules. However, there is always exception. Some of people will choose to neglect the warning sign. One of opinions is " If I can cross without danger and without forcing car to slow down, then I cross. What is the point to wait??? " Let's imagine, if everyone think like that, what's the case? So, No jaywalking.
In fact, nowadays, more and more people pay attention to environment friendly. It is encouraged to make good use of public transportation. In some places, "Stop driving for a day." has been proposed.

hit the sack

Tonight I learned a useful expression: hit the sack. I learned it from Teacher Kay when chatting with her via skype. The other day I was surfing on the net. Incidentally, I got a link from which I can get a PDF file for free. So great that I sent an email without any hesitant. Thus I knew her.

Do you know its meaning? Haha, that is, go to bed. I don't know it until now. I found I can't change my expressing mode flexibly, always the same one. I must learn express the same meaning in different ways. haha I'm beat. I'm gotta hit the sack now.

French study

For a few months, I left French study behind. Forget much. Forgetness is really the big enemy of study. Just now I read several sentences, which went against my mind. Gosh. If this condition goes on, I can imagine what will be. I said to myself that I must pull up my socks. Cos of what happened in Paris during torch relay and attitude to Dalai, I had a bad impression on President Sarkozy and France now. Since he came into power, he was not friendly to Chinese. However, language is just language, it can't be connected to politics. Right?
Today, I reviewed some basic expressions. For example, Qui est-ce? Est-ce que c'est Fanny? Que fait-il? Ou habite-t-il? Qu'est-ce que c'est? Quelle est sa couleur? etc.

Mysterious Chinese

It is said that Chinese is the most difficult to learn in the world. Different from other western languages, Chinese is a kinda hieroglyph. It is vivid and picturesque. The other day I chatted with Amulet on MSN. We mentioned the word pao (Chinese Pinyin), which means run (English). Amulet appreciate 跑 as a pretty picture!

Amulet: the character looks like a man running with a backpack on his back! He is running to the left...
Clara: the right part of 跑 is 包 包=bag=backpack
Amulet: that is what it looks like!
Clara: and left part of 跑 is 足 足= foot
Amulet: I am sitting here thinking . . .you are kidding ... how in the world would I learn this when there are 2 words in one picture? LOL
