Story behind SEASONS IN THE SUN

Several years ago, when I heard Seasons in the Sun for the first time, I fell in love with it. I was addicted into her rhythm, singer's beautiful voice. At that time I didn't think over its lyrics, or its meaning. Just a kinda pure charming. So many years going on, today I listen to it once more, knowing the story behind it, I have a complete different feeling. If you tasted it attentively, you would be touched deeply.

It is said that this song is from a French chanson, which was finished by the famous composer Jacques Brel in 1961. Three years later, it was written in English named as Seasons in the Sun. Until 1873, Canadian singer Terry Jacks sang and made a hit in Canada and America.

It is a will. The author say goodbye to his lover, friends, papa, daughter who have ever share joy and sadness with him.

It is really an old story. Three persons, we call them A、B、C for the moment. In the countryside in the 1950s, they were classmates of a high school. A and C were good friends from the Childhood. B was a beautiful girl. It's easy to guess what happened in this kinda story. A and C fell in love with B at the same time. A was that kind of sunny, active, handsome boy. He was a jock, beloved by many young girls. He lived a happy and simple life. And the other way around, C was coy, withdrawn, good at drawing. He had been in loved with B for a long time before A & B were together. But nobody knew. It was be hidden deeply into his heart. After graduation, A joined the army, and C became a carpenter. One day after war, A came back to marry B, and then he was a cargo driver ... Of course A often went out for living. B ran the grocery store left by her grandma, so much need to be done. Naturally, C loaded the responsability of taking care of the mother and daughter. After a long time, it was just like what we imagined. A knew nothing about it because of his character, in addition to his love to wife, trust in friend. Until one snowy day, A went home on the half way, all came out in the wash. The whole things came to obvious ... Facing the betray, A was out of control and killed them. Deep into night, A gave himself up to police. Two months later, he was sentenced to first-degree murder. The death penalty would be done in early spring the next year. On the 3rd day before death, A wrote 3 passages, one for his best friend C, one for his father, the last for his four-year-old daughter. At the last minute of his life, he still regarded C as his best, believable friend.

It's hard to die ..........

In fact, there are many likewise stories in real life. Although B was loved by two men at the same time, I guess she sometimes was not happy. After all that's so painful and paradoxical. Generally speaking, if true love, one is enough. Do you think so?

It is really sad!! But is it the true story behind of the one who wrote it? Or just lyrics for a song?

True or not, not that important. Anyway it touches our heart.

I am not the Fourth Reich.

Pitch Jesus to Jew elders as revenge for Temple? They didn't know about the god's intent for xtianity to spread to Europe, ruining cultures throughout the continent, enabling revenge known as the Holocaust.

Abortion is part of the decay inflicted by the gods in the latter half of the 20th century as we approach the Apocalypse::::
- Free sex
- Explosion in gay sex
- Abortion
- Legalized greed/immorality
- The internet. Whereas TV was a phenominally destructive new temptation on the landscape it doesn't hold a candle to the internet. Some people will waste their whole lives. And its timing was deliberate.

"It's too late to pray." Sign of Woodbridge Church Kansas. And it may be true. Examine pimps who prostitute 10 year old girls in the ghetto.
Of course, if you want even a shred of a chance to save yourself, on that rare occassion the Buffalo Bills did experience the Fourth Reich and realized a comeback.
I am failing. But it is because of the god's defense tactics. Fuck absolute power. I hate losing.

Budget problems. Cut the military. Bring them home and end the wars. Let these countries experience self-determination and decide their own future. Didn't we learn this lesson in Vietnam???
Unfortunnately, the gods use the United States as one of their tools, and using the spread of capitalism under the guide of democracy to level the playing field and prepare the planet for a global event.

So many people don't care about global warming. They don't care about the Federal deficit/debt (outside of partisanship) and they don't care earning $400k for an $80,000/year job will eventually bankrupt the country. They have awarded themselves $400k pay and retirement packages, loading up their friends on the payroll during the boom 90s through the real estate bust while all services which the program were intended to fund now get cut to pay for it.
These people are often common public university labor. Not Ivy League, not private university.
This labor isn't good enough to command the salaries they are earning. And they understood this when they applied to the public university they settled on.
You can't expect a top-tier salary with a second-rate education.
They think they are going sometime during/at the end of this life, and disregard the poor souls who are left behind.
These are the people who will be here in the United States when bankruptcy is declared and society deteriorates into chaos. And they will deserve the anarchy which ensues.

Continuing the push for privatization, reinforced and supported recently with enormous public sector salaries and retirement packages.
Once achieved the gods will utilize the corruptive predisposition of the private sector economy, as seen with the sub-prime/bailout fiasco, to initiate economic catastrophy and initiate the bankruptcy proceedings of the United States.
Whether the cure for cancer/diseases or the permanant resolution of economic misery, before the gods remove these motivations to pray we will experience an inordinate deluge of each element, with economic misery being perhaps the dissallusion of the united States with bankruptcy.

The gods used the Italians to ruin life in the 20th century.
The gods used the Italians to ruin life in A.D. with The Church.
The Church controlled Western Civilization. As the largest land owner in Europe they controlled the monarchies. They were responsbile for slavery, revenge for African invasion and rape of Italy. They created religious discontent, ultimately leading to the disfavored dumping ground known as the United States.

ONE THING. Deliver ONE THING you promised.
All these people did everything you told them for DECADES. You have strung them all along.
The gods are liars, and you're all going to be CHEATED.

It is as if I am little more than an indentured servant.

It's very telling that he will still sing to the friend who betrayed him, but not the wife who did likewise.

I had read somewhere the original was based on a ppem by a soon-to-be-killed French soldier of the Great War. If so, it's very sad and poignant...

Dang, I was way off base. I was told that it was about an old friend who died from Leukemia and all the money realized from this song was donated to that society.

I understood the original Belgian version to be comedic in nature...as he says his farewells to his overbearing father, meddling priest, and cheating wife, he does so with a sardonic sense of "and glad to be done with the lot of ya,really." The US version was rewritten to be the sappy tear jerker we know.

I even thought it was someone dying of Cancer...

The article (and my own research) clearly states that its a translation of a poem, turned into a song!!

Apologies that it took me in years to respond!
